Description of the accommodation

The Lodge itself is a single storey building although there are a couple of steps in the porch entrance and one internal step leading to the bedroom corridor. The large porch provides space to take off coats and boots, and houses a cupboard hiding the freezer and garden cushions and games. The main entrance then leads directly into the kitchen-diner which is a lovely bright room overlooking the garden from where you can watch the birds feeding at close quarters. It provides all the facilities you would expect: electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher etc. A washing machine for your use is available in the adjacent greenhouse.

A spacious internal hallway leads you through to the rest of the accommodation which comprises a comfortable sitting room, one twin bedroom and two double bedrooms, (one of which is quite small), a shower room with WC and separate WC. There is one step up from the hallway to the bedroom corridor.

The Lodge bedrooms and shower room were refurbished at the beginning of 2017. Central heating was installed in 2013, powered by a biomass boiler, burning wood pellets. Wifi is of course available, and super-fast fibre is to be connected in early 2022!

The sitting room has three large picture windows overlooking the garden and down to the river beyond. There are two leather sofas and an armchair. For cozy nights in there is a wood burning stove, and a selection of books, games, puzzles, magazines and DVDs. There is also a FreeSat connection for TV viewing. A door leads directly from the sitting room onto a patio and further into the garden.

The large garden also comes with various facilities: a riverside bar-b-q, a riverside seating area with fire pit, hammocks that can be strung between the apple trees, garden furniture, swingball and a croquet set to mention a few. While we do share the garden, you will have it to yourself most of the time.

The Lodge is adjacent to a beautiful Victorian greenhouse (allegedly linked in some way to the original Crystal Palace) which we have renovated back to its former glory.
