Description of the accommodation
The Lodge itself is a single storey building although there are a couple of steps in the porch entrance and one internal step leading to the bedroom corridor. The large porch provides a covered space to take off coats and boots, and houses a cupboard hiding the freezer. The main entrance then leads directly into the kitchen-diner which is a lovely bright room overlooking the garden from where you can watch the birds feeding at close quarters. It provides all the facilities you would expect: electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher etc. A washing machine for your use is available in the adjacent greenhouse.
A spacious internal hallway leads you through to the rest of the accommodation which comprises a comfortable sitting room with three large picture windows overlooking the garden and down to the river beyond, one twin bedroom and two double bedrooms, (one of which is quite small), a shower room with WC and a separate WC.
Central heating is powered by a wood pellet biomass boiler and for cosy nights in there is also a wood burning stove. We provide a selection of books, games, puzzles, magazines and DVDs and the TV has a Firestick for catch-up TV and (non subscription) streaming services.
WIFI is of course available, and is reasonably fast as we have fibre-to-property - even in this remote location!
The large garden also comes with various facilities: a place to light your portable bar-b-q (please provide your own), a riverside seating area with fire pit, hammocks that can be strung between the apple trees, garden furniture, swing-ball and a croquet set to mention a few. While we do share the garden you will have it to yourself most of the time.
The Lodge is adjacent to a beautiful Victorian greenhouse (allegedly linked in some way to the original Crystal Palace) which we have renovated back to its former glory.
