Description of the accommodation

The Lodge itself is a single storey building although there are a couple of steps at the entrance and one internal step leading to the bedroom corridor. The entrance leads directly into the kitchen-diner which is a lovely bright room overlooking the garden. It provides all the facilities you would expect: electric oven and hob, microwave, washing machine etc. although there isn't yet a dishwasher ...

A spacious internal hallway leads you through to the rest of the accommodation which comprises a comfortable sitting room, one twin bedroom and two double bedrooms, (one of which is quite small), a shower room with WC and separate WC. There is one step up from the hallway to the bedroom corridor.

The Lodge bedrooms and shower room were refurbished at the beginning of 2017. Central heating was installed in 2013, powered by a biomass boiler, burning wood pellets. Wifi is of course available, but please don't expect super-fast as you will be disappointed. Streaming films is impossible!

The sitting room has three large picture windows overlooking the garden and down to the river beyond. There are two leather sofas and a tub chair. For cozy nights in there is a wood burning stove, and a selection of books, games, puzzles, magazines and DVDs. There is also a FreeSat connection for TV viewing. A door leads directly from the sitting room onto a patio and further into the garden.

The large garden also comes with various facilities: a riverside bar-b-q, hammocks that can be strung between the apple trees, garden furniture, swingball and a croquet set to mention a few. While we do share the garden you will have it to yourself most of the time.

The Lodge is adjacent to a beautiful Victorian greenhouse (allegedly linked in some way to the original Crystal Palace) the renovation of which will be completed in 2017. While the greenhouse is used as a greenhouse most of the time, on special request it can be organised as a dining area for special occaisions.
